CARD OF THE DAY

Perfection in an Aaron

1972 was the year of the biggest set in Topps history. 787 cards were issued, far surpassing any set before or since. And that’s without the myriad variations and errors! It was issued in series with the last one being in far less supply than the others.

The set included lots of first-time specials. They included “Boyhood Photos of the Stars,” images of the various awards (e.g., the Cy Young Award), and the loved “In Action” series.

The design was also very hip. It reflected the era of bright colors and exaggerated text. It was bright, intense, and thoroughly unique. Also, it was in sharp contrast to the bleak 1970 and 1971 sets.

This card is a beauty. It’s a Gem Mint PSA 10. The pop is 7 at this lofty grade. It is the card of the day.Â
